Wipe Away Aging Skin with Fractional Lasers

Friday, August 6th, 2010

What makes a person’s skin look older? Wrinkles, fine lines, brown discoloration, acne scars, and a sallow complexion are all contributing factors. Wouldn’t it be terrific if we could treat all of them with one single procedure? Well now we can, with the introduction of the latest generation of Fractional Resurfacing Lasers.

There are two basic types of fractional resurfacing lasers, nonablative and ablative. Non-ablative fractional lasers (Fraxel) have a relatively easy and short recovery (2-4 days), and can take 3 to 6 treatments to gently achieve the final result you seek over time. Ablative resurfacing is a bit more aggressive and has a longer recovery period (5-10 days), and in many cases can remove more skin damage in a single treatment than nonablative treatments.

As one of the world’s leading laser centers, SCP has 5 different fractional lasers, each of which does slightly different things. Your physician will help you decide which of these procedures is best for your skin and your lifestyle. One laser to remove all that sun-damage? Absolutely! Ask SkinCare Physicians how fractional laser skin resurfacing might fit into your overall skin treatment plan.

The “New” Facelift

Friday, December 11th, 2009

The “new” facelift isn’t actually a facelift at all. Rather, it is your doctor using a combination of high impact, low cost procedures to restore youthful contours, erase lines, and improve the overall quality of your skin, without the need to ever visit an operating room!

One of the main concepts of this new approach is called “volume”. Volume refers to the loss of substance and structure that we all experience as we age, and one of the key new advances is the recognition that faces do not need to be pulled to look younger. Instead they need volume restoration as part of the process with fi llers such as Restylane, Perlane, Juvederm, Evolence, Radiesse, and Artefill.

The “old” facelift brought with it surgical risk, high cost, and the chance that you might end up with the unnatural over-pulled look. The doctors at SkinCare Physicians use a combination of minimally invasive techniques (fi llers/volume, Thermage, Botox, lasers) to make you look younger, fresher, natural, and more vibrant…the “new” facelift.

With advances in cosmetic surgery, this is one of those times where not all doctors are created equal. Your physician must have an eye for aesthetics, be able to properly evaluate your face, present you with the options that will work best for you, and then help you formulate a plan that makes sense and provides long term value. Last, and clearly important, your physician must have the proper skills to make the entire plan work!

SkinCare Physicians has been at the forefront of this movement for the past decade. So the next time you are in for a visit, ask us about what these terrific procedures can do for you!
